Shirley Joan Koster was born August 21, 1932 at Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of Ben W. And Johanna (Gesink) Mouw. She moved to St. Ansgar, Iowa with her parents and was graduated from St. Ansgar High School.
She married Jack Lee Koster at Hannibal, Missouri on October 17, 1952. She is a former member of the St. Ansgar Rescue Squad, served two terms on the St. Ansgar City Council, and was active in the Mitchell County Republican committee and the St. Ansgar United Methodist Church.
Shirley died Monday, April 25, 1988 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, Iowa after being very ill for about three months.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Johanna.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jack, St. Ansgar; two sons, Jon of St. Ansgar and Jeffrey of Fort Collins, Colorado; one grandson, Bryan; her parents, Ben and Madge Mouw of St. Ansgar; two brothers, Bill Mouw of Baudette, Minnesota, and Gene Mouw of Wadena, Minnesota; and many, many friends and relatives.
Services were at United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, April 30, 1988, at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. J. Bill Jenkins officiating. Interment was the at St. Ansgar Cemetery.
