OSAGE, IOWA - Roberta "Bert" Hanson, age 72, of Osage died Friday (April 24, 2009) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with Pastor Ruth Moerdyk officiating. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship after the service at the church.
Bert was born on June 13, 1936, in Algona, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Beitz) Smith. She married Raymond Hanson on February 19, 1954, in Bethany, Missouri. Bert enjoyed making her homemade crafts, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. Bert especially enjoyed decorating during the holiday seasons.
Bert is survived by her husband, Raymond Hanson of Osage; three children, Raymond Jr. (Donna) Hanson of Little Cedar, Penny (Mike) Counsell of Osage, Joseph Hanson of Osage; six grandchildren, Nina Hempy, Matt (Holley) Counsell, Mike and Jason Hanson, Jessica and Caitlin Hanson; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brannon, Bodey, and Mason; a sister, Violet Pergande, of Clarion; a brother, Eric (Carolyn) Smith, of Emmetsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Martin Smith; a sister, Alice Kollasch; and her infant son, Ronald Hanson.
Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of funeral arrangements -- 641-732-3706.
