Cynthia Novak Funeral Held at Emmanuel Lutheran
Funeral services for Cynthia Novak, 18, who died Wednesday, August 9 at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital, Osage, were held Friday, August 11 at the Emmanuel Lutheran church in Grafton, with the Rev. V. Baderschneider officiating.
Sharon Sherrard, Valerie Saltou, Sharon Flatness and Gloria Kobernuz sang, “I’m But A Stranger, Heaven is my Home,” accompanied by Elsbeth Hackbart at the organ.
Pallbearers were Ronald May, Daryl Adrian, Barry Schrag, Richard Fossey, Herman Koenigs, and Jeffery Hansen.
Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, Mitchell.
Cynthia Jo Novak was born on December 2, 1948 in Osage to Louis B. and Myrtle (Thompson) Novak. She was baptized in the Christian faith December 5, 1954 in Faith Lutheran church, Mitchell, by Rev. H. Berven.
As a child she attended grade school and junior high school at Grafton. It was during these years that Cynthia was instructed in the Christian faith and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Emmanuel Lutheran church, June 2, 1963 by Rev. Carlton Rohr. In the fall of that year she entered high school at St. Ansgar where she was an honor student and actively engaged in a number of school activities with a special interest in being a cheerleader.
Surviving Cynthia are her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Paul Groth, St. Ansgar; Mrs. Delmar Champion, Maluitas, Calif.; and Mrs. Fred Flack of Santa Clara, Calif.; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thompson of Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents
