James W. "Jim" Griswold

OSAGE, IOWA - James "Jim" W. Griswold, 82, of Osage, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

He was born on May 27, 1926, in Osage, the son of Harry Delos and Anna (Wolff) Griswold. Jim attended Osage schools.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Jim lived in Dilworth, Minn., and drove auto transport for 33 years, until retiring and moving to Osage. He was a member of the Osage American Legion and the V.F. W. Club in Moorhead, Minn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with the Rev. Anna Blaedel officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Jim is survived by a sister, Janice Hogan, of Osage; and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Edward; and a brother-in-law, Marshall Hogan.
