VICTORIA, MINNESOTA - Wilbert G. "Webb" Brandau, 87, formerly of Rudd, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Monday, March 2, 2009, at the Emerald Crest of Victoria, Minnesota, under the care of hospice and his loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Eden Presbyterian Church, 3105 Glass Ave., Rudd, with the Rev. John N. Bates officiating. Burial will be at Eden Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to the NIACC Foundation, Mason City, or to the family at 1485 Dancer Ave., Nora Springs, Iowa 50458.

Wilbert George Brandau was born on August 26, 1921, at the family farm, to George F. Brandau and Anna (Ahrens) Brandau. He was baptized and confirmed in the Eden Presbyterian Church where he was a life-long member. He was educated at the Rudd School and graduated there in 1939. He married Luella R. Marth on August 24, 1941, in LeRoy, Minn.

Wilbert was a farmer, staying interested in the markets and farming well into his long life. A call to Webb from his sons would always bring a "What are the markets doing?" As a young man, Wilbert learned to fly and was very proud to be a pilot.

He enjoyed sports and watching his children and grandchildren participate in various events. He spent many years playing softball with the town team and he and Luella enjoyed many summer vacations at Clear Lake with their young children.

He served on the RRMR School board for seven years during the consolidation of the schools. He also served 20 years on the NIACC Board of Directors and the NIACC Foundation. He served on several community boards, and was a 4-H leader.

Survivors include his four children, Angela (Robert) Brinkmann of Urbandale, Larry (Cindy) Brandau of Nora Springs, Jonathon (Barbara) Brandau of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Carolyn (Douglas) Barinsky of Excelsior, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren, Susan (Mark) Pietz, Laura (Wade) Blowers, Debra (Brad) Pietzsch, Candice (Wayne) Schubert, Gary Brandau, Kristin Brandau, Leah Brandau, Andrea Brandau, Bradley Barinsky and Michele Barinsky; and 10 great-grandchildren. Wilbert is also survived by sisters-in-law, Joan Brandau and Janet (Wayne) Rowley; brothers-in-law, Harold (Bonnie) Marth, Richard (Nancy) Marth and Raymond Koehler; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella in 1997; his parents; and by brothers, George and Arthur.
