Funeral services for Herman J. Dieterichs, 85, who died at this home in St. Ansgar Friday, March 22, [1957] were held Monday, March 25, [1957] at the St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. H.H. Dohmeier officiating.

Herman J. Dieterichs, son of Louis and Augusta (Habethal) Dieterichs, was born in Cedar township, Mitchell county, Iowa, February 10, 1872. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed on Palm Sunday in the year 1886 by the Rev. Zeilinger, then pastor of St. John's church.

On November 14, 1895, he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Buehrer, daughter of Matthias and Salome Buehrer, in Chickasaw county by the Rev. Westenberger. The young couple made their home for more than 20 years on a farm one mile north of St. John's Lutheran church. They left the farm in the year 1921 to make their home in St. Ansgar. No children were born to them.

Mr. Dieterichs was stricken with rheumatism about seven years ago and seemingly recovered about two and one-half years ago and since then had been in fairly good health.

March 12 he suffered a stroke from which he did not recover. He died March 22 at the age of 85 years, one month and two days.

Mr. Dieterichs is survived by one brother, Fred of St. Ansgar; three sisters: Mrs. Chris Hartwig, Mrs. Robert Rosenberg, and Mrs. Otto Borchert; also many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Millie Brogmus had kept house for Mr. Dieterichs for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and two brothers.

Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Dohmeier in charge of committal services.
