CARPENTER, IOWA - Karl Kirchgatter, age 66, of Carpenter, died on Wednesday (June 4, 1997) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Lemmermann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Kirchgatter, of Bloomington, Minn., and Tom Kirchgatter, of Mason City; one brother, Earl Kirchgatter, St. Ansgar; and one sister, Bernice Edgar, Rock Falls; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services for Karl Kiirchgatter, 66, of Carpenter, who died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, were held Monday, June 9, at United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, with the Reverend Robert Lemmermann officiating.
Karl Henry Kirchgatter was born August 11, 1930 near St. Ansgar, the fifth child of Richard and Amanda (Bauer) Kirchgatter. He attended St. Ansgar Schools.
December 31, 1950 Karl was united in marriage to Doris Evelyn Paulsen at the United Methodist Church on Bolan. Karl was employed at the Toeterville Elevator and Decker’s in Mason City. He later farmed in the Otranto area until retirement when he moved to Carpenter.
Karl is survived by two sons, Kenneth Kirchgatter and wife Colleen of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Tom Kirchgatter and wife Norma of Mason City; five grandchildren, Melissa Niskanen and husband John, Susan Nelson and husband Robert, Nicole Pechacek all of the Twin Cities area; Lucas Kirchgatter of Mason City and Kasondra Kirchgatter of Northwood. Three great-grandchildren, Tyler Vanessa and Benjamin Nelson, all of the Twin Cities area,; one brother Earl Kirchgatter of St. Ansgar and one sister, Bernice Edgar of Rock Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, one sister and one brother.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
