Joseph E. Anderson

ORCHARD, IOWA — Joseph E. Anderson, 89, of Orchard, died Monday (Aug. 15, 2005) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Joe was born Oct. 18, 1915, near Rudd, the son of Albert B. and Elizabeth (Yonish) Anderson. He attended school in Glenwood, Minn. He moved back to the Osage area with his family.

On May 7, 1939, he married Olga Marie Schallock. In his early years, Joe was a farmer. He owned Anderson Radio and TV in Riceville, dealing in television sales and service. He also ran a service station in St. Ansgar. Joe liked to fish with family in Minnesota, and enjoyed taking trips to Indiana to visit his son and family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, and will continue one hour before services on Thursday at the church.

Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olga Anderson of Orchard; a daughter, Sharon Rawn of Osage; a son, Merle Anderson and wife, Ann, of Larwill, Ind.; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a grandson.
