OSAGE, IOWA — Theresa Grguric, age 84, of Osage, and formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died Sunday (February 8, 2004) at the Faith Home in Osage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Chicago, Ill., with interment in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Westchester, Illinois.
There will be a public visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with a Scriptural wake service at 2 p.m. at the Faith Home in Osage. There will also be visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Theresa was born on January 21, 1920, to Franz and Marija (Nadler) Wahl, in Vocin, Yugoslavia. She was united in marriage to Frank Grguric on August 28, 1935, in Vocin, Yugoslavia. The family immigrated to the United States in 1952 under a sponsorship program. They farmed in the Ossian and Roseville area and moved to Des Moines in 1955. Frank and Theresa lived in Des Moines until 1964, when they moved to Chicago.
Theresa was employed for many years at Mrs. Grass Noodle Soup Company, until her retirement. Frank died in 1978.
Theresa moved to the Faith Home in October of 2002. She enjoyed doing needlepoint and making craft items.
Theresa is survived by three daughters, Theresa (Anthony) Pragovich of Lemont, Ill. and their son, Anthony Pragovich (Mary) and their children, Stephen, Elizabeth, and Anthony of Lockport, Illinois, Rose Grenko of Des Moines and her children, John (Deb) Grenko, and their daughters, Ashley, Katie, and Maggie of Des Moines, Marilyn (Don) Cole and their daughter, Lindsey, of Longmont, Colo., Joey Grenko, Andy Grenko and Mary Jane Grenko, all of Des Moines, Margaret (Gary) Smolik of Osage and their children, Sister Katherine Ann, OSB, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Frank (Becky) Smolik and their daughter, Megan, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark Smolik of Floyd, Michael Smolik of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Grguric in 1978; great-grandson, Jonathan Grenko.
