OSAGE, IOWA — Edna Wieland, 80, of Osage, died Monday (July 14, 2003) at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Edna was born December 9, 1922, in Osage, the daughter of Eloi “Ed” and Alice (Richardson) Engebretson. She attended rural schools and graduated from Osage High School.

Edna was united in marriage to Fred Wieland Jr. on June 27, 1945, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Two children were born to this marriage.

Edna was a homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edna’s hobbies included crossword puzzles, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune, cross stitching and gardening.

Edna will be sadly missed by all of her family members.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Those thankful for having shared in Edna’s Life include one son, Don Wieland and his wife, Sherry, of Osage; one daughter, Dianna Lowe of Stacyville; six grandchildren, John Wieland and his wife, Hope, Bryan Wieland and his wife, Michelle, Lisa Emerson and her husband, Kirk, LaVonne Wolf and her husband, Pat, Michael Hobkirk and his wife, Suzanne, and Mark Hobkirk; 11 great-grandchildren, Grant and Garrett Wieland, Natasha Wieland, Sara, Amy and Alex Emerson, Samantha and Jessica Wolf, and Adria, Rachel and Joshua Hobkirk; one brother, Charles Engebretson (Donna) of Osage; two sisters, Joan Engebretson, of Osage and Mary Lou Martin (Walt) of Humboldt.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Ed; husband, Fred Wieland Jr. in 2000; brother, Merlin Engebretson; and sister, Edith Dolson
