OSAGE, IOWA - Keith Irwin Funk, 79, died on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at his home in Osage from renal cell cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation is one hour before services at the church Tuesday. Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage is in charge of arrangements.

Keith was born Dec 12, 1923, in Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Roy and Mabel (Olson) Funk. He attended rural Burr Oak School No. 3 and graduated from Osage High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1945 and 1946.

On Aug. 13, 1947, he married Helen Marie Perkins of Lyle, Minn., at Deer Creek Lutheran Church.

Keith worked at the St. Ansgar R.E.A. and he was an Austin, Minn., city firefighter for 21 years.

Upon retirement in 1977, he built their home on a small farm in the Osage area, where Keith enjoyed planting trees and gardening.

Surviving him are his wife, Helen Funk of Osage; two daughters, Marlene (Norman) Hopkins of Rochester, Minn., and Margaret (Loren) Brumm of Iowa City; three granddaughters; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Lavern "Bud" (Shirley) Funk of Osage; one sister, Lavonne (Keith) Morse of Mason City; his mother-in-law, Selma Perkins of St. Ansgar; one brother-in-law, John (Ludmilla) Perkins of Cresco, and many nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents.
