STACYVILLE, IOWA — Robert Buckingham, age 77, died on Saturday (March 15, 2003) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Visitation Catholic Church, with a rosary beginning at 3 p.m. and a prayer service at 7. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born on Jan. 1, 1926, in Albia, Iowa, to Howard and Amanda (McBride) Buckingham.

He served in the United States Army as a tank driver during the Korean Conflict.

Robert married Phyllis Durben on Dec. 30, 1952, at Queen of Angels parsonage in Austin, Minn.

He liked working on and building roads, going from job to job in a house trailer. Robert worked for Oliver in Charles City for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Robert’s family always came first.

Robert’s last two years were spent in the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Stacyville; five sons, David (Anne) of Casper, Wyo., John (Vicki) of Byron, Minn., Joe of Granby, Colo., Tim (Laura) of Byron, Minn., and Richard of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Buckingham of Albia, Iowa, and Dorothy Buckingham of Ottumwa, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glenn and Jack.
