Theodore A. Bascombe, age 82, of Troy, Ohio, died on Monday, March 19, 2001, at the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbia, Ohio.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 23, at the Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, Ohio. Rev. Gilbert and Phyllis Welbaum officiated and military services were held at the graveside by the Base Honor Guard from WPAFB and the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.

Theodore A. Bascombe, was born on March 21, 1918 in Osage, Iowa, to Zaidee (Hocumb) and Fred Bascombe. He was a 1936 graduate of the Osage High School and a graduate of Aeronautical Engineering and Architecture from Ohio State University, Columbus in 1949. He received his Masters Degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

He was a teacher of graphic arts at the Troy High School from 1950 to 1979. In 1954 to the late 1960’s he was assistant track coach at the Troy High School. He worked at Par Stripping Co., Springfield, Ohio, in surveying and laying out of high school tracks in addition to lining tracks. He was an official at Tri-State Track meets with photographic timers.

He was a member of the Living Word Fellowship, Troy, Ohio, a Veteran of World War II in the Army/Air Force and retired public school teacher from the Troy High School after 29 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, Alice on May 9, 1994.

Those that survive him include his daughter, Carole Vardakas of Troy, Ohio; sons, Charles Bascombe of Troy and Michael Bascombe of Charleston, South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Chris Bascombe of Yuca Valley, California; sister, Joan Brandau of Osage; and five grandchildren.
