LITTLE CEDAR, IOWA - Evelyn Marie Jensen, 97, of Little Cedar, and formerly of St. Ansgar, died peacefully (Jan. 18, 2009) at home with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery, St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Evelyn Marie Bente Jensen was born on Dec. 26, 1911, in Elkader, the youngest daughter of Louis and Ida Bente. Evelyn graduated from Elkader in 1929 and went on to obtain her teaching certificate from Cedar Falls. After teaching for a few years Evelyn obtained a teaching job in Mitchell. It was in Mitchell at a dance that she met her husband Art. Art and Evelyn were married on May 25, 1941, at the Osage Lutheran Church. On March 19, 1946, they were blessed with their daughter Ruth.

Evelyn then spent the next years raising her daughter and working alongside her husband on their farm and helping with the Pioneer Seed business.

Evelyn was always very active in her church, loved taking care of her grandchildren, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Art; daughter Ruth Low and her husband David; grandson Kim Schwab and Beth, granddaughters Kelly McPhail and Brian, Angie Atwell and Todd; Kerry Randall; Dan Low and Ron, Laurel Feldt and Spencer, and Kari Low. Great-grandchildren Kasey, Arthur, Adam, Megan, Abbey, Luke, Joshua, Tyler, Taylor, Turner, Sawyer, Molly, Katey, Nathan, Justin, Gabe, Jack and Morgan; great-great-grandchildren Damien, Ava, and Harley.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sisters; son-in-law Dean Loney and grandson Dan Loney.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements, 641-713-4920.
