OSAGE, IOWA - Carol Evelyn Herrick, age 85, of Osage, passed away on Sunday (Jan. 18, 2009) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Hospice Unit in Osage surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Carol was born on Oct. 24, 1923, at Mason City, the daughter of Orville J. and Ethel (Conner) Barrett. She attended school in Orchard.
Carol was united in marriage to George Herrick in 1942 at Bethany, Miss. To this union, three children were born, Sharon, Sylvia and Jerry. They later divorced. Carol continued to live on the family farm near Rudd until 1999, when she moved to Osage.
Carol enjoyed cooking, baking, collecting recipes, gardening, and taking care of animals, large and small. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Krahenbuhl of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; a son, Jerry (Sandy) Herrick of Osage; four grandchildren, Shawn (Dean) Sorenson, Staci Herrick, Chad (Brenda) Krahenbuhl and Jason (Becky) Herrick; nine great-grandchildren, Brandy Sorenson, Samantha Krahenbuhl, Shawnda Sorenson, Jesse Sorenson, Jeremy Sorenson, Michael Krahenbuhl, Paige Krahenbuhl, Brooke Krahenbuhl and KaRena Herrick; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaydn Sorenson and Alexia Clark; a first cousin, Lola Nelson of Osage and her cat, Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Sharon.
