OSAGE, IOWA - Ortwin Hollatz passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage at the age of 92.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1921 317th Street south of Osage, with the Rev. Christian F. Gugel officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Ortwin William Hollatz the son of Albert and Helene (nee Erdmann) Hollatz was born October 12, 1909, in St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa, on April 13, 1924.

Ortwin was united in holy matrimony to Esther Schuttler on March 16, 1937, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Township, Mitchell county, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with one son, Robert.

They farmed south of Osage until his retirement in 1976, when Ort and Esther moved to down and Bob remained on the farm. In March 2001 he moved to Faith Lutheran Home where he had been on the board of directors for many years. Heenjoyed living at Faith Home and made many new friends there.

In death, Ort joins those who preceded him to their eternal home, his parents; his wife, Esther in 1989; a daughter-in-law, Lynette in 1991; four brothers: Lawrence, Arthur, Oscar and Earl Hollatz; five sisters: Esther Haupt, Leona Thorson, Edna Muller, Laura Muller, and Elsie Dieterich.

Those who survive him include, his son, Robert and his wife Colleen of Osage; his grandchildren, Pam Mayer and husband, Nick of Overland Park, Kansas, Mike, Amanda, and Erica Hollatz of Osage; and two step granchildren, Zack and Hannah Elliott of Osage; as well as many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church.

Ortwin William Hollatz, the son of Albert and Helena (Erdmann) Hollatz, was born Oct. 12, 1909, in St. Ansgar. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, on Oct. 31, 1909. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa, on April 13, 1924.
