ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Amelia Kittleson at the First Lutheran Church this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough in charge.

Amelia Johnson Kittleson was born August 3, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson Naesset [SIC], on a farm in Otranto township. She was one of 13 children, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. H.B. Hanson; Mrs. Mina Hanson; Mrs. Eddie Hanson; Mrs. Magnus Hanson, and Miss Mathilda Johnson, all of whom live in the vicinity of St. Ansgar.

She was baptized at an early age at the Six Mile Grove church, and was confirmed June 3, 1884 in the Mona Lutheran church by the Rev. J. M. Eggan.

As a young woman of 19 she opened, and for 11 years operated, a dress making shop in several places in St. Ansgar, including what is now known as the Art Albrecht barber shop, employing a number of other young women as apprentices.

On September 18, 1900 she was united in marriage to Charles Edward Kittleson. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. They are: Julius and Carl who operate the home place and with whom she has made her home, and two daughters, Mrs. M.S. [Mrs. Maurice] Haugen of Rapid City, South Dakota and Mrs. Andrew Lund of Sturgis, South Dakota.

She is also survived by six grandchildren: Charles, Kermit, sons of Carl; Mavis and Robert, children of Mrs. M.S. Haugen; Laurie and Larry, children of Mrs. Andrew Lund.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1921, which left her with a young family of four to rear and educate.

Mrs. Kittleson was loved and esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Friendships made through personal acts of kindness which she always found time to perform. Her long life was enriched by these acts of kindness and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was active in chruch work and held an honorary life membership in the First Lutheran Ladies Aid.

In February of 1948 she suffered an attack of bronchitis which led to other complications. In July of that same year she suffered a stroke and a further decline in health. Death came Monday, August 15, 1949.

Pallbearers were: George Frank, Orlando Johnson, Morris Hanson, Olaf Johnson, Raymond Hansen and Walter Eggen, nephews of the deceased.

Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery, St. Ansgar, Iowa.
