Mrs. Morris (Minerva O.) Hanson, age 84, of 302 2nd St. N.E. died Wednesday (Sept. 13, 1989) at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Mason City, Iowa, of natural causes.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 16, 1989, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 East State St., with the Rev. Timothy D. Hubert officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today until 9 p.m. at Major Erickson Funeral Home, Mason City.
She was born on July 18, 1905 in St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, a daughter of Emil Gustav and Matilda (nee Ask) Nelson.
She married Morris Hanson on May 4, 1927, near Otranto, Mitchell county, Iowa. They lived in the St. Ansgar and Otranto areas until 1944 when they moved to Mason City. She was a housewife and also took in children for the Lutheran Welfare. In over 20 yeras she had over 200 children in her care. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mason City.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Sally) Ballard, Atkins; one son, Virgil E., Mountain Home, Arkansas; two sisters, Mrs. Knut Elvin (Lula Viola) Gunderson, Stewartville, Minnesota, and Mrs. Roy (Laura) Witt, Osage; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Nelson, Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant brothers and two sisters.
