OSAGE, IOWA — Adelaide M. Lindley, age 82, of Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Monday, January 5, 1998, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 7, 1998, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church in rural Osage, with the Rev. Thomas Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage.
Adelaide was born February 17, 1915, in Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of Jno "Jack" and Ida (Anderson) Betts. She attended schools in Mitchell County. She married Melvin O. Lindley on July 1, 1933, in Osage. The couple farmed in the Osage area until retiring to Osage in 1970. She was an active member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara and her husband, Paul A. Christiansen, of Mount Vernon, Iowa; grandsons, Dana Christiansen and his wife, Elizabeth, of Iowa City, and Scot Christiansen and his wife, Jane, of Edgewood; and great-grandsons, Carl Lindley Christiansen and John Clemons Christiansen, of Edgewood, Iowa; a sister, Josephine Shrode and her husband, Donald, of Littleton, Colorado; a half brother, Hilding Lindley and his wife, Darlene, of Humboldt; eight nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin, in 1995; a sister, Gladys; and four brothers, Arthur, Andrew, Marshall and Ervin "Bud."
