Amelia Marie Wilk was born Sept. 6, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dieterichs, the third child in a family of six sons and five daughters,at the home across the way from St. John's Lutheran church. She was baptized March 25, 1866, and received into communicant membership in St. John's church by rite of confirmation April 20, 1879.

On April 5, 1886 she was united in marriage to Albert Wilk. They first lived on the present Henry Wilk place and later moved onto their farm six miles north of Rudd, where they continued to live until their end. There were no children born to their union. Mrs. Wilk ever proved herself a dutiful wife and shared sorrow and success with her husband. She faithfully adhered to her faith throughout her days.

In 1934 her husband was taken from her by sudden death at the age of 71. In later years the farm was rented by her nephew, Theodore Dieterich, who with his family moved in with Mrs. Wilk to care for her in her declining days.

Suffering an attack of flu several weeks ago the departed never fully recovered and peacefully fell asleep Wednesday afternoon, May 27, at 2:20 o'clock. She had reached the age of 76 years, 8 months and 21 days. She is survived by her brothers, Fred Dieterich of Rudd, Henry and Carl Dieterichs of St. Ansgar, William and Herman F. Dieterichs of Osage; a sister, Mrs. William Ahrens of Mitchell, and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews and other relatives, as well as a host of friends.
