ADAMS, MINN. -- A funeral Mass will be held for Isabella Margaret Smith at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with the Rev. Gregory Leif officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg.

Mrs. Smith, 84, of Adams, a longtime area homemaker, died Monday (July 26, 1999) at the Adams Health Care Center.

Isabella Margaret Hackenmiller was born July 28, 1914, in Meyer, Iowa. On Jan. 30, 1940, she married Paul Smith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer and they farmed in the Johnsburg area until moving to Adams in 1983. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg and its Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, sewing, gardening, cooking, and playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Harlan of Park Forest, Ill., Daniel of Minnetonka, Minn., and Gary of Adams; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Magdalen Miller of Spring Grove, Ill., Sister Mary Ann Hackenmiller of Springfield, Mo., and Eleanor (Mrs. Kramer) Elmo of Ackley, Iowa; and a brother, Clarence Hackenmiller of Yakima, Wash.

A son, a daughter and two brothers preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and an hour before the service Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 today at the church.

Adams Funeral Home in Adams is in charge of arrangements.
