Funeral services for Mrs. Norbert Dillon, 84, who died January 23, 1992 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, were held Sunday, January 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church here [St. Ansgar] with the Rev. N.E. Betke officiating.
Nora Bertha Louise nee Baldner Dillon was born July 24, 1907 in Union Township, Mitchell county, the daughter of Henry and Amanda Decklever Baldner. She was baptized into the Christian faith August 18, 1907 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, by the Rev. Landgrebe with Mrs. Bertha Baldner, Mrs. Louise Baldner and Charles Decklever as her sponsors.
She attended the Drown School near her parents' farm. The baldners moved to St. Ansgar in 1917. She attended the St. Ansgar Public School.
She renewed her baptismal vow on her confirmation day March 20, 1921 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, by the Rev. Paul Brammer and remained a member of this congregation. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1925, one month after her mother had passed away.
She kept house for her widowed father and eight year old sister. She clerked in the Hartwig Grocery, St. Ansgar, in the evenings and worked in the onion fields for a number of years.
June 17, 1931, she was married to Norbert Charles Dillon at Immanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Brammer. They moved to a farm near McIntire, which they later purchased. This union was blessed with one daughter, MaDonna (Mrs. Arnel Nagele). In 1974 she moved to LeRoy, Minnesota and lived in the Ruth Lawson apartment. In September 1986 she moved to another apartment building where she remained until a short time ago when she suffered a heart attack and died.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Norbert and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, MaDonna and her husband Arnel Nagele; four grandchildren, Steven Nagele and wife Mary Jo; Randall Nagele and wife, Peggy; Sheryl Jorgenson and husband Russell; Mark Nagele; seven great grandchildren, Cory, Sara, Adam, Mitchell, Renae, Richard and Laura Nagele; one brother-in-law, William Gerard Homrig of California; nephew, David Homrig and wife, Lisa and two sons of Biloxi, Mississippi; cousins and friends.
Burial was in the Wayne Cemetery, McIntire.
