OSAGE, IOWA -- Funeral services for Roland Francis Dietz, age 85, of Osage, were held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Roland died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Roland was born in Crookston, Minnesota on November 25, 1921, the son of Frank and Mary (Berhorst) Dietz. He graduated from Osage High School in 1940. Roland worked at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital for 31 years, retiring in November 1983. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Roland never saw the need for a car or driver's license, as he walked wherever he needed to go in Osage.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Dietz. He will be missed by his friends Ross, Ann, Ryan, Randi, Ranae and Reese Grafft, and the Faith Lutheran Home staff and residents.

OSAGE, IOWA - Roland Francis Dietz, age 85, of Osage, died on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, March 20, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage.

Roland was born in Crookston, Minnesota, on November 25, 1921, the son of Frank and Mary (Berhorst) Dietz. He graduated from the Osage High School in 1940. Roland worked at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital for 31 years, retiring in November 1983. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Roland was a great fan of all sports, especially football, basketball and baseball. His favorite team was the Iowa Hawkeyes and he held season football tickets for many years. He traveled to games in Iowa City by bus, as well as taking yearly month long bus trips across the U.S. He was proud that at one time he had attended a baseball game at every major league ballpark in the U.S. Roland never saw the need for a car or driver's license, as he walked wherever he needed to go in Osage.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Dietz. He will be missed by his friends, Ross, Ann, Ryan, Randi, Ranae and Reese Grafft, and the Faith Lutheran Home staff and residents.

The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of the arrangements.
