Della Emma Rena (Perau) Jensen, 95 years, 11 months, five days, passed away March 18, 2007, at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa.
Della was born April 13, 1911, to George and Elsie (Baldner) Perau in Mitchell County, Iowa. She attended St. Ansgar High School. She was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. She was baptized on May 14, 1911, at St. Peter's Church in Toeterville, Iowa by Rev. G. Landgrebe and was confirmed on March 28, 1926 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar by Rev. Paul Brammer.
She married Orlo Jensen on Jan. 26, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with Rev. Paul Brammer officiating. They farmed north of Osage until 1944 when they moved to a farm north of St Ansgar. In 1968, they retired to their “dream home” in St. Ansgar.
Della will be remembered for her unselfish way of living. She enjoyed helping Orlo on the farm, gardening, quilting, sewing, cooking, her church, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Marlene Hulshizer, Northwood, Iowa, and LaDonna (Tom) Gratias, Clive, Iowa; grandchildren: Debbie Athey, Northwood; Trisha (Doug) Lang, Osage, Iowa; Doug (Erin) Hulshizer, St. Anthony, Iowa; Craig (Jodie) Gratias, Clive; and Jenny (Alan) Wille, Ankeny, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Courtney and Mitchell Athey; Abbie and Andrew Lang; Allison, Kate, and Megan Hulshizer; Katie, Mercedes, Tyler, and Mason Gratias; Carson and London Wille; brothers and sister-in-law: Elizabeth Perau; Art (Evelyn) Jensen; Clarence (Wilma) Jensen; Ruth Jensen; and Helene Johnson; many nieces and nephews.
Della was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elsie; husband, Orlo; brothers, Orlan, Reuben, and Albin; sisters, Elda Drunasky and Rosella Houg; son-in-law, Gerald Hulshizer; grandson, Schott Hulshizer; great-grandson, Nicholas Hulshizer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Maurine Jensen, Merle Jensen, and Edna Beuerman.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be at the St. Ansgar City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, 207 S. School St., St. Ansgar from 5-7:30 p.m. today, March 20, and one hour prior to services at the church.

According to the funeral service folder, musical selections during the funeral included, "Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were: Doug Lang, Doug Hulshizer, Allen Wille, Craig Gracias, Trisha Lang, Debra Athey Jenny Wille, Jodie Gratias and Erin Hulshizer.
