SPRING VALLEY, MINNESOTA -- The funeral for Edith Mae Cleveland will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Joe Haynes officiating.
Mrs. Cleveland, 87, a longtime Spring Valley resident, died Sunday (March 18, 2007) at the Ostrander Care Center, following a brief illness.
Edith Betts was born in McIntire, Iowa. She married George Lewis Cleveland on June 23, 1936, and they had eight children. She was employed by Libby's in the bean fields, and sold tickets at the Drive-In Theatre in Spring Valley. She also worked at the Ostrander Nursing Home, and then the Stewartville Care Center until she retired. Her interests included arranging flowers, gardening and sewing. She belonged to the First Baptist Church and had lived in Spring Valley for more than 60 years.
Survivors include four sons, George "Roy" (Nanci) of Virginia Beach, Va., Herbert "Gene" (Debbie) of Creswell, Ore., and Gerald "Jerry" (Karen) and Kenneth (Mary), both of Spring Valley; two daughters, Patricia (Leonard) Goetsch of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Nelda (Russell) Rudlong of LeRoy; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, a son, a daughter and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be an hour before the service at the church.
Thauwald Funeral Home of Spring Valley is in charge of arrangements.
