Dorothy Ehlke, age 71, of Arlington, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2006 at the Gaylord Lakeview Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 19 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington. Memorial services were held at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa. Burial followed at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery at Toeterville.

Dorothy was born March 23, 1935 to Brodie and Bertha (Smolik) Mitchell in Casey, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Osage High School in 1954 and married William "Bill" Ehlke on January 14, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Osage, Iowa. Dorothy was a wife and mother for many years. In 1986 they moved off the family farm in Iowa and moved to Arlington, Minnesota.

Dorothy was a Sunday School teacher for 35 years and an active member of the church and women's groups of St. Peter Lutheran in St. Ansgar and Zion Lutheran in Arlington, Minnesota. She later worked at the Kramer Meat Market and cooked for 10 years at Arlington-Green Isle (Sibley East) High School. Dorothy volunteered at the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan and Arlington Good Samaritan Centers. She was president of Mitchell County Farm Bureau and a member of the VFW and AmericanLegion Auxiliary in Arlington. She is survived by her husband William "Bill" Ehlke of Arlington.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, parents-in-law; son Paul William; sister Mary Berge; brothers Charles Mitchell and Lloyd Mitchell.

Surviving children are Deborah A. (Jake) Weber of Clear Lake, Iowa; Mary K. (Dennis Hapes) of Collins, Iowa; Daniel W. (Kim) Ehlke of Gaylord, Minnesota; Barbara S. (Dan) Hermann of Arlington, Minn.; David W. (Heather) Ehlke of Pemberton, Minn.; Ruth E. (Derrick) Schmidt of Springdale, Ark.. Her extended family Janet and Terry (Alexis, Kevin and Scott) Deno of Arlington; Denise Harris (Miranda) also of Arlington.

Grandchildren: Justina Ehlke, Travis Weber, Josh and Zach Ehlke; Dawson and Jaden Ehlke; Faith and Mercedes Gavin and Zoe Schmidt.

Great-grandchildren: Kiara Hahn and Dawson Frauendienst and step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Siblings Clinton (Cleo) Mitchell and Florence (Clayton) Werner all of Osage; and Lester (Oma) Mitchell of Red Oak, Texas.

In-Laws Phyllis Mitchell of Mason City, Iowa; Arthur Berge of Osage, Iowa and Margaret (Paul) Meyer of Ankeny, Iowa and her aunt and uncle Gladys and Royden Putnam.

Kolden Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
