Funeral services for Esther (Schulz) Ruble, age 91, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery in Osage.
Esther passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, in Albuquerque. She was at home with her family comforting her.
Esther was born on the family farm north of Osage to Emery and Ella (Manning) Baker on April 16, 1915. She grew up in Iowa and was the 6th of 10 children. She attended school in Mitchell and Osage. Esther married Harold Schulz in 1935. They farmed near Osage for six years and then near Waterloo for another six years, before moving back to Osage, where they were in the cafe and restaurant business until Harold's death in 1970. They had four children, Marjorie, Patricia, Ronald and Terry.
After Harold's death Esther moved to Napa, Calif. where she met and married Paul Ruble in 1973. They resided in the Napa area for many years and did a lot of traveling in their motor home. They mostly spent their summers in Osage. They retired to their permanent home in Desert Hot Springs, Calif., but continued to travel and maintain a home in Osage until 2003. Paul passed away in October of 2005. Esther lived in her own home next to her daughter, Pat in Albuquerque until her death.
Preceding her in death are her husbands, Harold and Paul; her precious granddaughter, Laurie Angell; and her three precious great grandchildren, Pacer, Aaron and Naomi Power. Also preceding her are her parents; infant brother, Roger; brother Albert (Bud) Baker; her sisters, Grace, Ruth, Cleo, Bernice and Alta; and her son-in-law Manuel Cabral.
Esther leaves behind to love her forever, her children, Marjorie Cabral and her companion Vito Montelli of Napa, Calif., Patricia Moore and husband Billy of Albuquerque, N.M., Ronald Schulz and wife Marjorie of Osage, Terry Schulz and wife Linda of Osage; 20 grandchildren, Margaret Lind (Dave), Dottie Gonzales (Jim), Ronnie Cabral, Arlene Cabral, Bonnie Thomas (Gary), Merrill Angell (Rose), Marsha Milton (Radar), Mark Angell, Kathy Sink (John), Robert Mendez (Berna), Amy Murphy (Brian), Ashley, Brittany and Joey Moore, Jean Perry (Les), Maybelle Brockney (Rick), Kenneth Schulz, Ricky Schulz, Elizabeth Berg (Shawn) and Victoria Noel (Matt); 38 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren; two step children, Carol Carroll of Oregon, Bob Ruble of Washington State; eight step grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; one brother, Kenneth Baker (Pat) of Utah; and one sister Ethel of California.
