WALTER VIRCHOW DIES THURSDAY, SUCCUMBS AFTER OPERATION IS PERFORMED AT HOSPITAL IN ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA

Rites for Walter Virchow, 42, who died in a Rochester, MN hospital last Thursday, were conducted at the church here last Sunday, Rev. C. Landdeck officiating. Burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Virchow was taken suddenly ill less than 2 weeks ago and went to Rochester December 19th, 1935. An operation for the removal of an ulcer in his stomach was performed and he appeared to be recovering but complications developed and caused his death.

Walter Henry Virchow was born September 26, 1893, on the same farm that he has been making his home. He was baptized soon after his birth and was confirmed when 14 by Rev. John Landdeck. He was married to Miss Augusta Kirchgatter in 1925. Shortly after the marriage, the couple moved to the farm where Mr. Virchow was born.

His wife and 2 children: Irene and Ruben and his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Virchow survive.
One brother, Harvey, of Santa Monica, California and 4 sisters: Mrs. Emil Heimke of Stacy, MN; Mrs. Oscar Wagner of Carpenter, IA; Mrs. Virgil Chesbro and Mrs. Edward Hudson of Santa Monica, CA also survive.

Operation Dec. 18

Walter Virchow, 42, farmer living in the vicinity of Graftorn, died at at Rochester hospital December 26, following an operation for ulcers of the stomach, performed December 18.

Mr. Virchow was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Virchow, and was born near Grafton, where he spent his entire life.

He married Miss Augusta Kirchgatter, and to them were born two children, Irene and Rueben, who survive him. Both are at home with their mother.

The deceased is a distant cousin of the local Virchows.

The body was brought to the Champion funeral home Thursday evening and the following day funeral services were held at the farm home in charge of the Rev. Carl Landdeck. Burial was made in the Grafton cemetery.
