A.K. TOLLEFSON PASSES AWAY - BODY TAKEN TO FORMER HOME AT GROTON, SOUTH DAKOTA FOR BURIAL
A. K. Tollefosn, former St. Ansgarite, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Thompson, at Faribault, MN on Sunday morning, July 24, 1932. He had been in poor health for about a year, but was not confined to his bed until the last 8 weeks.
Mr. Tollefson was the father of Mrs. Adolph Groth and Miss Ida Tollefson of St. Ansgar, IA. He came to St. Ansgar from Wisconsin in 1854 and lived on a farm near Otranto until 1882, when he went to Groton, S. D.
He was a great prohibition worker in his younger days and in later years, though he never was ordained in the ministry, he felt the call to preach and did so whenever he had the opportunity. Occasionally, when he came to St. Ansgar, he preached in the M. E. Church, though by faith he was a Baptist.
Funeral servies were held Monday at the Baptist Church in Faribault, and the remains taken to Groton for burial.
Those who went up from St. Ansgar to attend the funeral were: Mr. & Mrs. Adolph Groth; Ida Tollefson; Lela Hegland; Mrs. George Halvorson; Mrs. Olive Howe and Louis; Mr. & Mrs. Eric Wahl; Luther Tollefson; Mr. & Mrs. William Groth, Clara Groth and Mr. & Mrs. Peter Larson.
