Funeral services for Jere W. Ahrens, Sr., age 72, of Osage, will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, with Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating.

Interment will be at the Osage Cemetery.

Jere died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Jere was born February 6, 1934, at Osage, Iowa, the son of Lester Ahrens, Sr. and Mary (Annis) Ahrens. He attended Osage schools, and graduated from Osage High School. Jere was united in marriage to Elaine Kjome on July 7, 1957, at Spring Grove, Minnesota. They made their home in the Osage area, where they farmed. Jere enjoyed spending summers during his retirement at "The Point" at Lake City, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Elaine Ahrens.

Jere is survived by two daughters: Katherine Ahrens and her husband Curt Robbins of Wayzata, Minnesota; Mary Wittenburg and her husband Clark of Osage; one son, Jere "Bill" Ahrens, Jr. and his wife Becky and their son Cody of Rochester, Minnesota; two brothers: Frank Ahrens and his wife Bonnie of Clear Lake, Iowa; and Lester Ahrens, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Monroe, Wisconsin.

Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa.
