Elias Vaughn Cady was born in Steuben county, N.Y., March 31, 1829. He was one of a family of twelve children his mother surviving him and now lives at Parker, Kansas, aged 90.

When he was three years old his parents moved to Ohio and two years later they moved to Otter Creek, Indiana.

When he was 14 years old his parents again moved to Madison, Wisconsin. Here he was moved* to Lucina Cottrell and to this union were born three sons and one daughter, the daughter dying in infancy.

In 1954* he again turned his face westward and sought Mitchell county. In 1863, his first wife having died, he was again married to Marry E. Curran.

Six children were born to them, all of which are still living. Mr. Cady moved to Osage a little over a year ago. He was a member of the Methodist church having been converted in 1867 and has ever since been a consistent Christian. Mr. Cady will be missed in a large circle of friends beside the relatives who mourn their irreparable loss.
