Dale Emmet Rockafellow, 73, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at RTA Hospice of Casa Grande, Arizona, after a year long battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held in St. Ansgar, Iowa at a later date.

Dale was born February 14, 1933 in rural Mitchell County, Iowa to Mary Lou (Springer) and Laurence Irving Rockafellow, the youngest of four children. He was baptized at Union Presbyterian Church, Stacyville, Iowa. He attended and graduated high school in St. Ansgar, Iowa.

Dale served in the U.S. Army as a cook and his interest and enjoyment in cooking remained with him his entire life.

Dale was united in marriage to Joan Rohne on November 14, 1954 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa. In 1983 they moved from Osage, Iowa to Arizona City, Arizona.

His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Joan of 51 years, and their four children; Mark and wife Nina of Austin, Minn., Annette and husband Curt Halvorson, of St Ansgar, Judy and husband Don Garrison of Coolidge, Arizona, and Melinda and husband Jeff Schumacher of Rosemount, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grand child, two brothers Dean of St. Ansgar, and Delos of Iowa City; and one sister, Mary Lou Amundson, of St. Ansgar.

The J. Warren Mortuary provided cremation.
