Clarence Mathias Hemann and Elizabeth Mary (Gilles) Hemann
The story of the Clarence and Elizabeth Hemann family began when Clarence Mathias was born to John and Mary (Gerber) Hemann in Union Twp., Mitchell County, on May 6, 1918. His wife, Elizabeth, was born January 5, 1924 to Roy William and Anna Mary (Seibert) Gilles in Stacyville, Iowa. They both attended Visitation School in Stacyville.
Clarence and Elizabeth were married October 11, 1944 in Visitation Church, Stacyville, Iowa. They lived and farmed on their farm in Section 34, Union Township for forty one years. They retired to their new home in Stacyville November 1, 1985
Clarence and Elizabeth have eight children, all born in Osage, Iowa.
Carol Jeane was born January 12, 1946. She married James Dunlay, son of the late Robert and Letha Dunlay of Riceville, Iowa, on October 8, 1977 in Visitation Church, Stacyville. They have two sons and live in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Wayne Herbert was born October 6, 1947. He married Tama Lello, daughter of Anthony and Anna Lello of Chicago, Illinois, on October 20, 1973 in St. Barnabas Church in Chicago, Illinois. They have three children and live in a rural home outside of Iowa City, Iowa.
Arlene Helen was born January 28, 1949. She married James Haugen, son of Albert and Constance Haugen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on December 29, 1974 at Visitation Church in Stacyville, Iowa. They were divorced in 1983. Arlene and her two daughters live in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Stanley Alfred was born July 6, 1950. He married Catherine Marzen, daughter of Leo and Bernadine Marzen of Dougherty, on December 4, 1971 in St. Patricks Church in Dougherty, Iowa. They have three children and live in Mason City, Iowa.
Phyllis Marie was born October 1, 1951. She lives in Des Moines and works in the Medical Record Dept. at Mercy Hospital there.
Patricia Ann was born August 17, 1954. She married Roger Atherton, son of Jay and the late Margaret Atherton of Algona, on June 18, 1988 in Holy Family Church in Mason City. They are making their home in Mason City, Iowa.
Lorraine Mary was born September 10, 1956. She married Michael Bode, son of Franklin and Betty Bode of Wesley, Iowa, on September 20, 1980 at Visitation Church in Stacyville, Iowa. They and their two sons live on an acreage near Wesley, Iowa.
Anthony John was born November 13, 1964. He is presently serving as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force.
