HEMANN, JOHN AND MARY FAMILY

The story of John N. and Mary Hemann family began when John Nicholas was born to Matthias and Gertrude (Hackenmiller) Hemann in Stacyville Twp., Mitchell Co. on December 27, 1886. His wife, Mary Barbara, was born on August 13, 1895 in Lodi Twp., Mower Co., Minn. to Michael and Anna Maria (Schumacher) Gerber.

John and Mary were married November 21, 1916 in Visitation Church, Stacyville, Iowa. They have six children, all born in Union Twp., Mitchell Co., Iowa.

Clarence Matthias was born May 6, 1918; Roman Anton born January 29, 1921; Herbert John born January 12, 1923; Helen Agatha born March 26, 1928; Alfred Bernard, born April 11, 1930; and Marie Theresa born July 15 1937.

John and Mary Hemann lived on their farm located in Section 24, Union Twp., Mitchell Co. Iowa.
Prior to their retirement to Stacyville, Ia., in 1955. John and Mary were happy to enjoy their sixty-one years of togetherness. John died December 23, 1977 and was buried on his 91st birthday.

Clarence married Elizabeth, daughter of Roy and Anna (Seibert) Gilles, on October 11, 1944 and lived on their farm in Section 34, Union Twp., Mitchell Co.

Roman married Dorothy, daughter of LeRoy and Margaret (Evans) Bartleman on November 14, 1949. They live in Ford Dodge Ia. Where he has been a salesperson and a contractor.

Herbert married Irene, daughter of John and Elizabeth (Thome) Mueller o August 25, 1948. They farm in Section 21, Stacyville Twp., Mitchell Co.

Helen married John, son of Frank and Mary (Tlach) Falada on July 5, 1958. John had been in sales and carpentry. John died August 16, 1979. Helen lives in Stacyville.

Alfred married Darlene, daughter of John and Mary (Bissen) Thome on June 14, 1955. The live on his parents farm in Section 24 Union Twp., Mitchell Co., Iowa.

Marie married Glenn, son of Ferdinand and Lydia (Hinsman) Borchardt on October 28, 1961. The live in Mason City where she is an R.N. at Mercy Hospital and Glen is Chief Radiologist at North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Mary Hemann still lives in her own home in Stacyville and is able to do her own cooking, baking and house work. She has forty-five grandchildren living, one died in 1951. She also has forty-six great-grandchildren.
