Funeral Services For Mrs. Miller

Tribute Paid to Memory of Beloved Member of Prominent Pioneer Family by Friends and Members of O.E.S.

Funeral services for Mrs. G.B. Miller were held in Raynor chapel in Glenwood Wednesday afternoon with a large number of longtime family friends assembled to pay tribute of respect to the memory of a prominent pioneer family. She had lived her entire life in this community.

Mary Eva, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mickelwaite, was born at the family home here October 21, 1867. She grew to young womanhood in this community, and on April 3, 1889, she was married to Brownlow Miller. The home established in this community was, for many years, one of hospitality which their wide circle of friends enjoyed. Several years ago they moved into Glenwood and in their home here on April 3, 1939, they were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Miller had been in failing health for some time and passed away at the family home November 2, 1941, at the age of 74 years and 11 days. One daughter, Kyle Miller, preceded her in death on February 5, 1920. Those of the immediate family who survive are her husband, son, Dale, of Omaha, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Skillicorn, and one brother, Grover Mickelwaite, of Glenwood and two granddaughters, Julie and Rosalie Miller, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The funeral services were conducted by Dr. Frederick W. Long, of the Glenwood Congregational church. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. Ralph McPherron with Mrs. E.A. Schade at the piano.

Those in charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Frank Buffington, Mrs. Rollin Buffington, Mrs. George Howard, Mrs. Maurice Mayberry, Mrs. A.H. Culver and Mrs. Fred Reasoner.

The members of the Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a devoted member, were in attendance at the funeral service and the ritualistic service of the order was given by the members in the chapel before the body was borne to its final resting place in the family lot in the Glenwood cemetery. Those who served as pallbearers were Paul Sulhoff, Clyde Rhoads, Henry Dean, Carl Morgan, Bryan Maxwell and Steve Criswell.
