At his residence in Tabor, Iowa, Friday, Aug. 15th, 1884, Carlos West, aged 80 years.

The deceased was born at Lee, Berkshire County, Mass., August 23, 1803. In 1825 he married Betsey Fletcher, and shortly after removed to western New York. He made his home in Silver Creek, Chautauqua county, for nearly forty years. In 1867, he came with his family to Tabor, where he remained until death. He was a man of uncompromising integrity in all the relations of life, and in a remarkable degree attached to his family and friends. He leaves his wife of his youth and four children to mourn his loss.
