Horace Richardson 68, Malvern

Horace Paul Richardson, 68, of Malvern, died Aug. 18, 2005 at the Manor of Malvern. Services were held Aug. 25 at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home. Interment followed at North Grove Cemetery in Hastings. Pastor Gene Hilton officiated.

Mr. Richardson was born Dec. 29, 1936 southeast of Hastings the only son of Paul Walter and Mary Francis (Shannon) Richardson. He was a member of the Hastings Methodist Church where he played the piano for 25 years. Horace was a gifted and versatile musician. He was radio accompanist for Henry Schnoor, a local vocalist, for eight years on Sunday afternoons at station KFNF in Shenandoah. He played in several dance combos in area towns, and volunteered at numerous civic events, weddings and funerals. Once a month, he would play for residents at the Nishna Cottage in Malvern. He enjoyed playing for the Malvern Fireman Frolics and in 1976, played songs from all eras for the Malvern all-class reunion.

Among his other talents was a knack for repairing antique radios and spring driven record players. Following his mother's death in 1985` Mr. Richardson cared for his father on the family farm until his death in 1993. He continued to live and operate on his family's farm until moving to the Manor of Malvern in 2002. While at the Manor, he continued to entertain residents with his piano renditions of favorite "oldies" and hymns.

Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by distant relatives and friends.
