Madelaine Teegarden, Glenwood

Madelaine Frances Teegarden, 84, of Glenwood, died at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs on Aug. 12, 2005. Services were held Aug. 16 at Hertz Funeral Home. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery. Pastor Bill Sargent officiated.

Mrs. Teegarden was born one of two children to Stout E. and Edith Mae (Thorburn) Buis on Aug. 7, 1921, in Savannah, Mo. She married Edward B. Teegarden on April 5, 1947 in Troy, Kan. Their new family of four, including Madelaine's son Charles and Edward's son Leslie, grew to include their children Randy, Rod, Julie, Jan and Tony. In 1962, the family moved to Glenwood where they operated the Teegarden Taxi to transport train crews from the depot in Pacific Junction to the Dean Hotel in Glenwood. They later owned and operated Teegarden Ambulance Service, which became Iowa Emergency Medical Technicians in 1971. The Teegarden's were married 43 years at the time of Edward's death in 1991. Mrs. Teegarden continued to live in her home and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked to cook, crochet, care for her houseplants and scrap booking.

Mrs. Teegarden was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Kenneth Buis. She is survived by her sons Charles "Buck" Caton and wife Sharon of Bella Vista, Ark., Randy Teegarden and his wife Sherrie of Pacific Junction, Rod Teegarden and his wife Patsy of Council Bluffs and Tony Teegarden of Glenwood; daughters Julie Teegarden of Omaha and Jan Torok of Council Bluffs; stepson Leslie Teegarden of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
