Funeral Services Held For John Schoening

Prominent Mills County Resident Who Passed Away at Farm Home Near Silver City Laid to Rest in Mineola Cemetery.

Funeral services for John F. Schoening were held Monday, Dec. 23, at the Lutheran church in Mineola conducted by the pastor, Rev. O.C. Bierman. Music for the service was presented under the direction of Mrs. Ezra Speck. Those in charge of the floral offerings were Emma Schoening., Katherine Schoening, Alice Roenfeldt and Emma Roenfeldt.

The pallbearers were Fred Schoening, Clarence Roenfeldt, Allen Schoening, Ernie Schoening, Clifford Schoening, and Charlie Roenfeldt.

Raynor Funeral Home was in charge of the burial services in the Mineola cemetery.

John Fred Schoening, son of Fred and Johanna Schoening, was born in Mills county, south of Mineola Feb. 17, 1863 and died Dec. 20, at his farm house east of Silver City, reaching the age of 77 years, 10 months and 2 days.

He was married to Caroline Louise Roenfeldt in 1888. To this union seven children were born.

The deceased enjoyed good health until of late when he was confined to his home. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church of Mineola.

The survivors are his wife, Caroline, four children, Edward and Alta of Silver City, James of Oakland, and Clyde of Idaho Springs. Deceased children are George, Clare and Ray. Seven grandchildren also survive as well as three brothers and two sisters, Louis, Frank and Otto Schoening, Glenwood, Minnie Hansen, Sioux City and Mary Dietchler, Glenwood.
