Minnie Rachael Stout Died June 20, 1941

Minnie Rachael Stout was born April 30, 1886 to Joshua Spencer Stout and Elizabeth Wychoff Stout at their home on the farm in Mills county, Ia. This home was established in 1873, nearly 70 years ago, by her grandfather, Jonathan Stout, who visited this western region in 1855, and saw the possibilities of the land. Here she learned the first lessons of life, the lessons of respect, obedience, love and helpfulness.

She was one of a family circle of ten; her parents, four brothers and three sisters, giving a fellowship within itself, that ministered to the life of all. Of this family six have answered the summons that comes to every life. A sister, aged six months, the parents, two brothers, Charles and Ray, and now Minnie Rachael.

Those who survive are Dr. F. Stout of Yakima, Wash.; Wm.H. Stout of Glenwood, living on the home place; (Stella), Mrs. Tom Grosse of Tabor, and (Myrtle), Mrs. Albert Nelson of Malvern.

Her school days were spent in the Fairview school, now known as Center school, north of Tabor. She was of a friendly, willing, helpful disposition. and she quickly made friends. Attractive in personality she at once commanded attention. Of hardy physique, she played her part in the game of life. She was loyal in her attendance at Sunday school and church and popular in the social functions of the community until a few years ago.

Funeral services were held at Reeves funeral home in Tabor, Monday, June 23 at 2 o'clock. Rev. Peter Jacobs officiated. Mrs. Jessie Weatherhead sang "Going Down The Valley" and "When They Ring the Golden Bells." Mrs. Kriels acted as accompanist. Pallbearers serving were Roy Rodman, Guy Utterback, Burt McPherron, Louis Bass, Guy Wolfe and Carl Yates. Flower ladies were Mrs. Golda Bass, Mrs. Helen Utterback, Mrs. Gladys Yates and Mrs. Florence Adamson.
