Mills County Tribune
May 2, 1921

Dorothy, the four year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Judah, living southeast of Hastings, died during Thursday night from the effects of burns received that day. Three of the children had been sent on an errand. They found a pile of leaves near the road side and one of the children set them afire. A younger brother in play pushed Dorothy near enough to the blaze to catch her clothing. Her screams brought the mother, who in putting out the fire burned her own hands severely.

The little one was cared for as quickly as possible, but death resulted.

Funeral services were held from the home Saturday. Music was furnished by Mesdames F.H. Priest and N.W. Colling. Rev. J.E. Wilkins of Malvern conducted the services. Burial was in South Grove cemetery.
