At an early morning hour on Tuesday, November 20, 1917, after an illness of two weeks, life departed from the body of our friend, Lafayette Scott, who has lived in our midst since 1880. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Newell, with interment in the Glenwood cemetery.

M.L. Scott was born in Van Buren county, Ia., April 12, 1849, being 68 years, 7 months and 8 days old.

He is survived by his wife, one brother, one sister and several children. The children are Mrs. Nora Lee of Glenwood, Mrs. Mary Beach of Kansas City, James Scott of Pacific Junction, Mrs. Nina Sellers of Pacific Junction, Purl Scott of St. Joseph, Mrs. Carrol Penick of St. Joseph and Ernest Scott of Council Bluffs. Besides the wife and children there are eleven grandchildren. The children were all present at the funeral.

Mr. Scott was well known in this vicinity and had many friends who will miss him greatly.
