November 27, 1917Word came Monday to his son, Elvin Van Pelt, here in Glenwood, that his father, James VanPelt, who has been in the state hospital at Clarinda for a few years past, had passed away after a brief illness. Elvin went to Clarinda the same day and will bring the body of his father to Glenwood today. Funeral service will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) from the Methodist church, at 2 p.m. Mr. Van Pelt was a well known resident of Glenwood in years past. He was about 65 years of age.
