Funeral Services Held Tuesday for Mrs. C.W. Abshier

Services held in Pacific Junction Church for well known resident of that community whose death is mourned by many.

Funeral services were held in the Pacific Junction Methodist church Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. C.W. Abshier, 58, who passed away at her home in that city Sunday following an illness of a year’s duration. The Raynor Funeral Home of Glenwood directed the services which were conducted by Rev. Claude Cooper of Atlantic, IA., a former pastor of the Pacific Junction church. He was assisted by the present pastor, Rev. Ralph Fagan.

Music for the services was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Westcott of Plattsmouth, Neb. The ladies in charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Dean Purcell, Mrs. Fred Edwards, Mrs. Glen Fitch and Miss Katheryn Flynn. The pallbearers were Edward Gammon, Shirley Lawson, E.L. Hostetter, Joe Bottomly, Frank Hines and Walter Fisher.

The body was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.

Jennie Russell, daughter of Newton and Lillie Russell, was born in Pacific Junction, Iowa, on January 16, 1882. Her entire life was spent in the community where she was born.

In November of 1906, she was united in marriage to Charles W. Abshier. One son, Lyle, was born to bless this union.

Mrs. Abshier was a very active woman in her community life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was a member of the Community Methodist church of Pacific Junction, Woodland Rebekah lodge, and auxiliary of American Legion of Council Bluffs, auxiliary of Railroad Veterans and a member of the Degree of Honor. She was a devoted wife and mother and a faithful member to her church.

One year ago Mrs. Abshier began to fail in health. Everything possible was done, yet she steadily declined and passed away early the morning of November 10th, at her home in Pacific Junction.

She is survived by her husband and son, one sister, Mrs. John Bruce of Glenwood, IA., and two brothers, Harry Russell of Pacific Junction and Clarence Russell of Council Bluffs, IA.
