Glenwood Opinion Tribune
October 28, 1940Mr. and Mrs. S.F. Vinton are in receipt of clippings from the Casper, Wyo., newspaper sent them by their daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Scrankangast, who resides there. The clippings tell of the death of Dr. J.C. McManus, optician of that city, who was associated with his son, P.G. McManus, who conducts a jewelry store there, and who some twenty years ago was employed by L.S. Robinson in this city, and many of the older Glenwood residents will recall the days of his residence here.
His father, who had resided in Cheyenne, joined his son in Casper in 1927. He was 72 at the time of his death, and was widely known as “J. Christy” poet and philosopher. He wrote somewhat after the manner of his friend, Walt Mason. His writings appeared daily in the Casper paper, and of late years had been syndicated, finding a ready response from the reading public. His daily writings appeared under the caption of “Rolling Stones,” and as one writer said in tribute to him at the time of his death, “They were pebbles on the shores of the stream of life which brought gladness to the hearts of those who came in contact with them.”
