May 5, 2005Jerry Lee Hunter, 73, of Pacific Junction died April 29, 2005 in Council Bluffs. Services were held May 3 at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Interment followed at Martin Chapel Cemetery in Pacific Junction. Reverend Howard Greed presided.
Mr. Hunter was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Pacific Junction to Frank and Mary (Piatt) Hunter.
He was united in marriage to Jane Etta Rew on Nov. 8, 1951 in Pacific Junction. To this union five children were blessed; Vanessa, Fred, Jerry Jr., Mary Jane and George. Mr. Hunter was employed with the Burlington Northern Railroad for over 46 years. He was a member of the Full Faith Church and South Omaha Eagles.
Mr. Hunter loved being with his family, gardening and caring for the beautiful flowers along Main Street in Pacific Junction each spring. Hunting and fishing were also hobbies he enjoyed.
Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his parents; brother Benny and sisters Minnie and Lindy. He is survived by his wife Jane; children, Vanessa and husband Henry Makaio of Pacific Junction, Fred and wife Joyce Hunter of Pacific Junction, Jerry Hunter, Jr., and wife Vicki of Glenwood, Mary Jane Hunter and fiancée Danny of Pacific Junction, George Hunter and friend Beth of Pacific Junction; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie and husband Donald McCaulley of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; brothers Harry Hunter of Council Bluffs, Jack and wife Phyllis Hunter of Brush, Col., Jay and wife Merna Hunter of Suffolk, Va.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
