Mr. Vinton, one of three sons of Charles “Ernest” Vinton and Carrie “Alice” (McCormick) Vinton, was born on his parent’s farm north of Pacific Junction, on June 25, 1915. He married Ila Louise Clay on Feb. 22, 1938. They made their home on a farm south of Malvern until 1941 when they purchased a farm east of Silver City. In 1948, they sold the farm and purchased a farm west of Pacific Junction, where they moved in 1950. To this union two children were blessed, Roger Lee, who died in infancy, and Sandra Kay. Mr. Vinton loved the farm. He was a member of F.H.A. for four years and served 20 years on the Mills County Conservation Board, during which time he played a crucial role in the development of the Pony Creek Conservation Area. In 1969, Mr. Vinton “retired” from farming and he and Ila moved to Glenwood. Over the years, he and Ila acquired other farms in Mills County as they continued to remain active in farming.
Mr. Vinton was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son; and brother Wendell Vinton. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Horn and her husband Ivan Horn of Beattie, Kan.; brother, Burl Vinton and his wife Sue of Pacific Junction; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
