July 6, 1916Mrs. Jane E. Cheeseman died in this city Thursday night last. The funeral took place at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Wm. Stevenson, at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 1916.
Following sketch of her life is given:
Jane Elizabeth Keelen was born Dec. 19, 1834, in Mercer County, Pa.; passed out of this life June 29, 1916, at 10:15 p.m. She gave her heart to God in early childhood and united with the Methodist Episcopal church in which she held a continuous membership down to the day of her death. She was married to Selinus R. Cheeseman on Nov. 21, 1850, at Greensville, Pa. There were born to them nine children, five of whom survive her, and all of them were by her bedside when she passed away. Her husband died Feb. 12, 1881, thus early she was left to care for her family and ever she evinced a spirit of faith and trust in her heavenly Father for help to direct aright her loved family. She leaves five children: George Cheeseman, Willow Creek, Mont.; Mrs. Emma Smith, Maple Hill, Kas.; Mrs. Etta Jacques, Topeka, Kas.; Mr. Will Cheeseman, Delisle Sack, Canada; Mr. Joel Cheeseman, Barnum, Minn. Also thirty-six grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
