Buford “Arkey” Etter, 75, of Pacific Junction, died March 27, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 31 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor. Pastor Darrell Hopp officiated. Interment was at the Thurman, Iowa Cemetery.

Mr. Etter was born September 29, 1929 in Brimson, Mo., to John W. Etter and Sarah (Johnson) Etter. He worked as a mechanic and operated his own salvage operation as well as doing construction work in the Pacific Junction area. Mr. Etter married Jean Stattler on Nov. 3, 1951.

Mr. Etter was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jean; two sons, John V. Etter and Roger L. Etter; three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by a son, Kenneth L. Etter and wife Penny of Elmo, Mo.; sister Doralee Yates of Council Bluffs; daughter-in-law, Bev Etter of Elmo, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor was in charge of arrangements.
