Christina Schoening, 94, of Council Bluffs, formerly of Mineola, died April 15, 2005 at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs. Services were held April 17 at Mineola Cemetery. Chaplain Paul Crane presided.

Mrs. Schoening was born Feb. 9, 1911 near Minden, Iowa to Nels and Marie (Christofferson) Christensen. She was united in marriage to Elmer S. Schoening on Jan. 25, 1933 in Omaha. To this union three children were born; Darwin, Pauline and Marcia. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mineola, serving on numerous church organizations, Kennington Club and St. John Lutheran Cemetery Board. She loved her collectibles, going to sales and auctions and gardening. She was a talented seamstress and grew beautiful roses. She always had a cup of coffee and some cookies to share with whomever stopped by to visit her.

Mrs. Shoening was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by her children, Darwin and wife Shirley Schoening of Glenwood, Pauline Bryant of Treynor, Marcia and husband John Gaskill of Godfrey, Ill; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
